Greg and Sarah's EngagementAs the clock counted down to a new centuryGreg constructed a plan as careful as could be. He commissioned a ring for the girl that he loved And waited till midnight for the ring to be shoved On the finger of Sarah, who he hoped would say "yes". The woman he loved, this girl Sarah Hess. Ten seconds to midnight, he reached for the ring So sure all was right, so sure of everything. In his pocket he placed it, so careful to store Where it would not get lost if his sweat would soon pour. But the ring in his pocket had plans of it's own It slid into the lining, Greg felt with a moan. Greg fumbled for the ring as the clock ticked away And as Sarah looked on all to Greg's worst dismay. Two seconds to midnight and the ring did appear, And the smile on her face was the answer so clear. A mans voice called out from the next room away "A proposal was made I think on this day" "What is the answer?" asked a girl in a dress Sarah squeaked out her answer with a high-pitched "yes" All in the next room soon cheered for these two Who now have a wedding to plan through and through But first we must party and good food we should eat At our house at sixteen eleven Sauls Street On the twenty second of January In this new century. It will start at seven, we hope we can see you at this shin-dig, please R.S.V.P. (And if you can't make it please tell us that too.
